The Earthly Grandkids in My Life

These, my 7 grand kids are the ones that give me
the hope that brighter days are coming.
Makes me sad that the one celebrating his
first birthday at this party will never
know his sister Hannah. She so loved to
hold him. The cousin in the Nike
shirt called her the Baby Hog because
she would grab her baby bro when she got
home from school and not share.

These kids are my sunshine.

What a Surprise!!! New Baby On The Way

Congratulations to my oldest son and his wife!!
A new baby is on the way....November 1st.
They have 4 at their house.
That is the next to the youngest leaning on Lisha Jo.So, there are 2 girls and 2 boys in Jerod and Lisha Jo's
house ....... not sure what they want yet. I think the
boys would probably like another boy.
I have 7 grand kids, 4 girls and 3 boys so another
boy would round it all out just fine.
But little girl outfits are so cute!!

Turning 10

My favorite middle grandson had a birthday
the 16th of February and he turned 10! It
really does not seem like we have had him that
long. I was thinking he was a baby and
will not remember the events of Sept 11 that year.
His packages all matched and we did not
even plan it that way!
This is my oldest grandson here with him. Let me tell you, these two are a pair and can stir up some trouble if given the opportunity! Here is the whole gang for the traditional birthday picture! For the last several years one of my two sons have taken in a foreign exchange student. I hope these kids don't forget us as they grow up and go their own ways. So far they have all been pretty good about keeping in touch with us by the internet.

Priorities

Last week I had a Dr's appointment and saw this on
the wall in his office.
A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW IT WILL NOT MATTER
WHAT MY BANK ACCOUNT WAS, THE SORT OF
HOUSE I LIVED IN , OR THE KIND OF
CAR I DROVE; HOWEVER, THE WORLD WILL BE
DIFFERENT BECAUSE I WAS IMPORTANT
IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD.
Above are my 7 grandkids.....I hope that in spite of
having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome...I am able
to touch their lives enough to make
a difference.
When I am not able to be with them,
I am praying for them in their daily walk
through life.

Turning 4

My favorite youngest grand daughter had her 4th
birthday today. It does not seem like she should be that old. Her dad is trying to get her
to wear the big hat, that she wanted no part of
when the waiter staff came to sing Happy Birthday
to her.
Here she is with her cousins, brother and sister at her party this evening. This is all my grand kids plus this years foreign exchange grand kid from Japan. I can tell by the look on my grand daughter's face (far left) that her older brother (top left) is pestering her....the look on his face tells the story. Being the older brother of two younger sisters.....we see that look on his face quite often. She is not my baby grand daughter any more but she still likes gramma to rock her and read to her. I could be such a better grandma if I did not have this Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This disease has cheated me from being the kind of grandparent that I had planned on being but I am thankful for the happy times I am able to share with them.

Grandma of a Teenager

This week my favorite oldest grand daughter
turned 13 on her birthday. We took her to
eat at the local Mexican restaurant. They brought her a fried ice cream desert,
slapped the sombrero on her head and
sang Happy Birthday to her.
It was fun. It is hard to believe
she is this old and I am now a
gramma of a teenager!

Cousins

This is another of my favorite pictures.
My two middle granddaughters.
They are cousins, now in kindergarten and
first grade, born 8 months apart.
Their homes are around the corner from
each other and their back yards attach.I hope they grow up to be close.
Right now they are either fussing with
each other or they are best friends.
I think it is because they both want
to be the boss. This day, a few years back, they were
best friends playing after church one Sunday.

A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Gramma Can Be Fun

This is my oldest middle grand daughter. She loves
to play with lipstick.
I am not the kind of Gramma I had planned on being.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome changed those plans I had.
I do my best and I try to make fun memories for
the kids and myself.
I try to be creative....that's where the lipstick and the
cans of beads and bracelets come in handy.
I also have a few hats.
You can entertain from a horizontal position if
you own a few cans of beads and a cheap tube of
lipstick.

I have times that it really bothers me that I can not

do all the things with the kids that I would like.

I worry about them understanding why Gramma is

not present at a lot of activities....like other grandparents are.

I can't take the heat, or extreme cold, driving very far

wears me out. Don't have the

energy to make it through a day trip to an amusement park.

Sometimes a trip to McDonald's is all I can do with them and that

may be at the drive thru!!!

We make up songs to sing....you can do that sitting in a car while

Mom is inside Wal Mart, but now they are all in school. Pre School

to 7th grade, so the Wal Mart sitting, I think, has past.

So when one of the kids visits us and asks for the cans

of beads or lipstick.....or breaks out singing our

cat song.....I know I am making happy

memories with them, just not at the amusement

park as I had planned before I was a Gramma with CFS.

Oh, and another thing we can do when I need a rest....

draw the ABC's on the ceiling with flashlights while flopped on the bed

together........they love the flashlights and can use

them at Gramma's house. They tell me

they can't do that at home because Dad says they'll run the

battery down!!

A Precious Picture

I took this photo of my next to the
youngest granddaughter three
or so years ago, out in our back yard.
I wonder what was going on
in her little mind and what she
was looking at. I remember she was
on the swing when I took this of her.
She is now a kindergartner and will
quickly tell you what is on her
little mind nowdays!
I would like to think that
her Gramma in heaven, her
Mom's Mom is looking down on her.
She will also tell you her name and
that she is named after her Gramma
that is up in heaven.
To me, that's precious.

Climbing A Tree

This last week on the 16th I had a birthday....over 50ish by 2 years and it has me thinking about the time that has passed. I see in this tree a lot of time has passed.
My parents had a house moved to the farm and set it up in a field closer to the road about a quarter of a mile in front of the house that we were living in. There were lots of trees at the old house. Not so in the field where the new house was set. I missed the trees at the old house and in the summer is was hotter in the new yard than in the yard at the old house.
My Mom bought these trees to set in the front yard and when she planted them they were just twigs. I had to be careful and not mess around and hit them with my bike or do anything to damage these trees. We needed shade up in that hot bare field. I think I would have been around 5 years old when she planted them. I think she ordered these maple trees from the Henry Fields Seed Catalog. She got that catalog in the mailbox regularly. I have not seen one in years and don't know if it still exists. Guess I should google that.
In these pictures you see my grandsons climbing one of the trees Mom planted a little less than 50 years ago. They have gone from twigs to trees a kid can climb. When I am down on the farm visiting Mom and see the trees it reminds me of how much time has passed since they were planted. They provide nice shade in the front yard and have for lots of years now.
I don't know where these years have gone but they have gone by fast. The older I get the faster they fly by. If I happen to forget that living up here in my house in town it just takes a glance at the trees in Mom's front yard on the farm to remind me how time goes by. We need to enjoy each day and make happy memories to cherish as time is flying by..........

The Bingo King

I don't remember getting to play games like Bingo in school but all is different now. During Grandparents day we got to play Bingo in the Kindergarten room. There were seven of us at the table playing. Two rounds of Bingo. Seven players....2 grown ups...5 kids.....and the youngest P School Whippersnapper A.D. won both times!!!! He is a little Bingo King.

Grandma's got a Blog

I told ELLE I had a blog and she went and got the laptop to check it out. Notice the wings necklace she is wearing ......I thought they were Harley Davidson wingy things. She said no..they are angel wings. Now I am clear on that. Hope she checks my blog once in a while when she has the chance to get on the computer. She is my first real grand kid. She is special. She is my favorite oldest granddaughter and always will be. Love ya Ms. ELLE

Car With A Lid

We did not know when we purchased this car with the sun roof that it would become a novelty with the grand kids. You should know this is a "CAR LID" not a sun roof!!
H, D, and M really had a blast riding home from Grandparents Day at the School with the lid open.
Three grand kids barely fit in the open lid. Glad there is not a big police force in the small town where the kids live.
M had to have a little bit of help from the driver....Poppy Joe to get up a little higher. I am not sure who had more fun the Grandparents or the girls!!! Oh, and by the way, not only were the girls waving but we were singing our song.."I've Got Cats That Live At My Gramma's House." Some people we drove past just looked, others waved back. I bet the ones that waved back have cats living at their house!!!
